What is Spiritual Meditation? Its Role in Spiritual Growth

Spiritual meditation involves using meditation techniques in quieting of the mind and focusing it inward to obtain spiritual experiences. They have been employed for generations across the world in most religions as a means of achieving spiritual advancement, individual development, and liberation. It creates a feeling of tranquility, completeness, and balance.

The contemplative practices of meditation enable us to gradually draw upon and embody spiritual qualities inherent within us. These qualities include humility, love, forgiveness, and strength. This process brings forth positive and significant changes within ourselves and the world we live in.

Spiritual meditation is a type of meditation that aims at calming the active, noisy, or chaotic thoughts in the mind to get in touch with the spiritual self. There are common methods such as breathing exercises or chanting mantras. This is to overcome the noise of the discursive or the everyday thinking process and go deeper into the calmness and stillness of the mind.

This enables one to touch the inner self, the soul, the spirit, or the god within as people of different cultures perceive it. It is a way of exercising the spirit like any other muscle. It has the benefit of helping to lessen tension, stress, and anxiety.

It can be seen that spiritual meditation is a critical part of the process of attaining spiritual development as time goes on. Practicing walking meditation or sitting meditation each day also assists in calming the ego. It helps us wake up and enlighten ourselves, to see beyond what we were taught and programmed to think.

It makes us see the hidden secrets of the universe, the purpose of life, and our place in it. The more we get used to this state of being, the more we become awakened from illusion. We tend to free the mind from the imaginary, get closer to the divine self, and live a more spiritual life.

Further, it contributes to the ordering of the human will to the divine will.

Meditation helps to prevent the activities of thoughts and feelings that are destructive. This inner stillness fosters crucial dissolution, where maladaptive modes of thinking. And affect are released, so the mind and the heart become available to spiritual currents.
